Hello.
My name is Tom De Smedt.
I'm an artist, software engineer and a cognitive science hobbyist. [CV]
I'm currently pursuing my PhD on computational creativity. I'm affiliated with the Experimental Media research group (EMRG, Sint Lucas School of Arts, Antwerp) and the Computational Psycholinguistics group (CLiPS, University of Antwerp). In my spare time I work 0n NodeBox and on a computer game called City In A Bottle.
Projects that may interest you:
| Pattern - a web mining module for Python, including final state parsers for English and Dutch and an n-gram search algorithm, graph visualization, Naive Bayes classifier, and lots more. | |
| | NodeBox - NodeBox is free software that generates 2D graphics with Python code. My work includes modules for image compositing, language processing, graphs, Bézier math. See the new NodeBox for OpenGL. |
| City In A Bottle - A computer game based on the principles of evolution through natural selection and emergence, funded by VAF (Flemish Audiovisual Fund). | |
| Articles - a collection of older, unscholarly articles: humor, art and meanderings into AI, psychology and philosophy. I keep them around for my own entertainment. | |
| Mecca - An imaginary world in hypertext form: descriptions can be linked and read in any order. Written in reasonably readable English a decade ago with a bunch of friends. That was fun. | |
